MOMENTS

Between Past and Present
Inside the Dambulla caves, centuries-old paintings stretch across the ceilings while rows of Buddha statues sit quietly beneath them. For a while, I lost myself in the details—the faded colours, the worn stone and the countless hands that had shaped and cared for this place over generations.
Then an elderly monk walked slowly across the cave floor, his footsteps echoing softly through the chamber. The spell was broken. The caves were no longer a window into the distant past, but part of the present, carrying on much as they always have.
